Introduction: Diabetic gangrene is a condition of body part death due to complications of diabetes mellitus (DM) due to neuropathy and vascular disorders in the foot area. Staphyloccocus aureus was found to be 62.5%. Moisturizing dressing is a wound care technique that keeps the wound surface moist. The fronds of ambon banana (Musa acuminata colla) contain tannins, saponins, flavanoids and phenols that function as antibacterials. Objective: to determine the content of secondary metabolites and assess the potential of ambon banana leaf extract gel preparations as antibacterial S.aureus. Methods: The extract concentrations used were 50%, 70% and 90% by percolation technique, positive control used gentamicin 0.1% cream and negative control was aquadest. The gel preparation was tested for physical quality of the gel in the form of organoleptical test, pH test, adhesion test, spreadability test, viscosity using HPMC base. Antibacterial activity using the pitting method. Results: The results of the physical quality test obtained by the extract affect the viscosity of the gel and the resulting adhesion is not in accordance with the identical standards of the gel. The inhibition power produced by the 90%, 70% and 50% concentration of ambon banana leaf extract gel averaged 11.21mm; 10.12mm; and 8.20 mm followed by One Way Anova. Conclusion: 90% concentration is significant with 50% and 70% concentrations so that all concentrations of banana leaf extract inhibit the growth of S.aureus bacteria that cause gangrene.
